Division of heating costs

How are the heating costs divided between personal consumption and fixed shared costs?

Reply: You pay for your own consumption, which corresponds to the units read on your meters in the flat. In addition, you have to pay for the energy lost from the water circulating in the radiator pipes and the faucets (often called 'pipe loss'). In other words, you also have to pay a share of the cost of getting the hot water to your radiators and taps.
